In fact, now she is busier than ever, having just launched a Christmas record, starred in a Netflix musical, written a memoir and even helped fund research into Covid-19 vaccine. Dolly Parton revealed that she never wants to retire. The 74-year-old music icon has been in the spotlight for decades since the 60s, but confessed she has no interest in slowing down or taking a break, because she loves writing songs and playing music too much to quit.
“Jolene” singer said that she doesn’t want to stop, especially after you get older, you need things to do. “I’d rather wear out than rust out. You only have one life. No, I won’t retire. I might pull back if my husband’s not well or if I’m physically not well. But I’d never do it for any other reason.”
Surprisingly the hit maker doesn’t feel exhausted by having too much on her plate. Despite being busy with her music career, running a charity called Imagination Library, she also owns a theme park named Dollywood (which is the biggest tourist attraction in Tennessee). She reckons that’s her way of life.
Now she is promoting her latest album, new book “Dolly Parton: Songteller, My Life In Lyrics” and “Christmas On The Square” a Netflix movie musical, so she may be a little frustrated because there’re so many products to promote.
However, the “9 to 5” songwriter just pulls back and reflects that is what she wants, this is her dream come true, and then she goes back to business.
