When we have in front of us a song by an artist that we know writes her lyrics in relation to her life or at least a great part of them, it is impossible not to look at each song with a magnifying glass. It's actually something we fans love, fantasizing about the motif and the secret behind the lyrics. Read on to find out who or what the song “Prisoner” by Miley Cyrus featuring Dua Lipa refers to.

  • On November 19 we had the pleasure of listening for the first time and also seeing the music video for the song “Prisoner” by the 27-year-old singer Miley Cyrus and the British Dua Lipa.
  • The single comes off Cyrus Plastic Hearts' seventh studio album which has not been released yet.

Regarding the song “Prisoner”, it is a catchy and danceable melody that transports us directly to the eighties.

The accompanying video has the same style and you can see the two artists partying hard and having too much fun.

From the lyrics, phrases like:

“I can't get you out of my mind”

“I've tried it a million times”

“You keep making it harder to stay but I still can't run away"

Miley Cyrus.

When I first heard the song I immediately remembered Miley's words back in October when she announced the release of Plastic Hearts.

The “Midnight Sky” singer made it clear that the material she presented In this seventh album had been written two years or so ago.

In 2018, she even referred to the fire in her house in Malibu where she lived with her then-husband actor Liam Hemsworth.

In fact, Cyrus dared to say that the fire put an end to something that she was incapable of.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.

This is why I think the song somehow reflects Smiley's feelings at that moment prior to the destruction of the couple's love nest.

That moment when you know something is already finished, but still, you can't get out, you can't escape.

You are often a prisoner of your fears.

Miley Cyrus.

Sometimes relationships become addictive, you try to end them a million times but you can't control your desire to continue.

What are your thoughts about it? Do you agree?
