Dolly Parton has a unique style and she doesn’t follow the rules. It’s not surprising that the country music legend has a particular Christmas tradition. Scroll down as we reveal why she keeps her holiday decorations up well into the New Year!
Dolly Parton revealed details on how she spends the holidays at her lovely home in Nashville, because she really likes to keep things festive well beyond the New Year.
“I don't celebrate Christmas and Thanksgiving until my birthday on the 19th of January, I always make them leave my decorations up until after my birthday, because I am still celebrating.”
The Queen of country will turn 75 years old in 2021. She opened up about always spending the holidays with her husband Carl Dean, 78 but the couple like to keep the celebrations low-key and intimate.
Her long-time partner loves to spend time with his tools working on carpentry projects or repairing things, so Dolly got him new tools and flashlights for Christmas. She also likes to write him a song every year.
Parton loves to cook, so she got nice aprons and oven mitts from Santa. Dolly confessed that she is happy with her presents, because her husband gets her what she needs, and she isn’t waiting for a diamond ring. Her favorite gift is a card with a sweet poem from Carl Dean.
The couple doesn’t have children of their own, but Dolly likes making Christmas cookies and this year she invited some friends and their children. They all came around to her house during the holidays and ate pizza and home-made cookies.
The “Jolene” singer is planning to celebrate reaching the milestone of 75 birthdays by posing again for the cover of Playboy on the winter issue in 2021. Parton posed in a black bunny suit on the cover of the iconic magazine in the October 1978 issue.
Dolly became the first country music singer to pose for the adult magazine. However, she set very specific boundaries that did not include nudity. The legend is certainly keen to appear again on the cover but only if its in good taste.
