Miley Cyrus has proven to be the queen of covers on many occasions. Since her Hannah Montana years, the artist has enjoyed versioning her favorite artists on stages around the world. Scroll down to recall some of their not-so-well-known versions of iconic rock and roll songs.
In the past year, we've seen Smiley cover great rock songs like Blondie's “Heart of Glass” and The Cranberries' “Zombie”.
She even had the self-indulgence of mashing-up with Stevie Nicks mixing her song “Midnight Sky” and the former Fleetwood Mac's “Edge of Seventeen”.
Miley Cyrus has been doing pop for most of her career, but she's confessed that her heart was always a rocker.
We have found some covers that the 28-year-old artist has done that are worth remembering.
Check out our list below.
1) Smells Like Teen Spirit
The great fans of the artist surely remember the 2011 “Gypsy Heart” tour, in which a young Miley who was still Hannah Montana, was encouraged to cover one of the grunge anthems.
The truth is that even then, the Nirvana style suited her well.
2) Nothing Else Matters
On the Glastonbury stage in 2019, Cyrus shocked the world when she dared to do a heavy metal cover of none other than Metallica.
Miley's version of “Nothing Else Matters” pleased the fans and herself, who in fact revealed that there was the possibility of doing a Metallica tribute album sometime in 2020 or 2021.
We'll see if this finally happens.
On June 27th, 2020, Miley Cyrus joined the Global Citizen cause in a concert designed to unite the world in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic that still torments the world today.
The Global Goal concert was the perfect excuse for the former Hannah Montana to cover one of her favorite groups, The Beatles, and she also took the opportunity to dedicate her incredible performance to all healthcare workers.
4) Roadhouse Blues
Before the coronavirus pandemic, in February 2020, Smiley had the pleasure of joining The Doors to perform an incredible version of their classic “Roadhouse Blues”.
Also, on the gig was her friend and producer Andrew Watt rocking it on guitar and of course the mythical 74-year-old Robby Krieger.
The event was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album “Morrison Hotel”, one of the most successful of Jim Morrison's band.
5) Back To Black
It's certainly not easy to cover the great Amy Winehouse, but we can say that our girl did great in 2019 on the Glastonbury stage.
As a result, this concert was one of Miley's best in her career, and it certainly opened the door to this new facet of rock star that we are currently witnessing.
