Selena suffers from chronic autoimmune disease Lupus, and in 2017 received a donor kidney from her friend Francia Raisa, who is an activist. Their amazing and heartwarming story, in the video below.
Gomez, was reacting to a thread from Raisa in which her friend opened up about the donation for the first time.
"I feel comfortable and confident in speaking about my experience, and using my platform to raise awareness."
Raisa, 32, said that while she wasn't personally affected by kidney disease because she has seen the impacts of it firsthand, and she wanted to do her part on educating others on it.

The Rare Beauty founder underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 due to complications stemming from the autoimmune disease lupus. Since then, she's continued to be an outspoken advocate for those suffering from the disease.
In December, Gomez opened up to PEOPLE about learning to embrace her transplant scars.
"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that scar, and now I look at it in a much different way," she added.
