Mystery solved: Britney Spears' song 'Everytime' was about Justin Timberlake

Finally, after so many years, we are clearing this out of our list. Britney and Justin dated from 1999 until 2002. In 2003, Justin Timberlake released 'Cry me a river' about their relationship. In the same year, the pop princess dropped 'Everytime' which was her response to her ex-boyfriend hit. Want to know all the details?

  • The young teenagers first met in 'The Mickey Moue Club', but started dating years later.
  • Justin Timberlake wrote 'Cry me a river' about Britney after their breakup.

Justin and Britney were kind of the pop prince and princess during the years when they dated. Everything around the show-business was about them. Paparazzi were all the time over them and looking for their latest piece of news. The lovebirds were  deeply in love, or that is what we were made to believe. In 2002 when they broke up, the world simply stopped. Nobody understood what had happened and none of them spoke about it.

JT promised his former-girlfriend never to say the reason why they decided to go on separate paths. However, in 2003 he released his song 'Cry me a river'. Since the moment it dropped, everyone knew it was all about their love story (or end of it, actually). Even though the former couple said absolutely nothing regarding Britney's alleged unfaithfulness and Timberlake finding it out, the 'Toxic' singer answered back.

In 2003, the blonde star released her next hit 'Everytime'. The song was written by Britney herself and her backup singer Annet Artani. Although Britney never claimed the song was her response to Timberlake's song, Artani did. According to our source, when they wrote it Britney knew she wanted to express exactly how she felt regarding their troubled breakup.

'I may have made it rain
Please forgive me

My weakness caused you pain

And this song is my sorry'.

Britney seems to have been unfaithful to her first famous boyfriend. In her response, she claims she was truly sorry and she even asked for forgiveness! Lately we have learned that Britney had a 'collaborators-singers-wishlist' and Timberlake was in it (of course). The former NSYNC's answer? He would like to sing along Britney! Let's hope 2021 is as promising for Britney as 2020 has been! I'm 100% sure this year the star will come up with a new song similar to 'Matches' (collaboration with the Backstreet Boys). Watch 'Everytime' YouTube video and really study the lyrics. Don't forget to post your comments below!
