After the death of her beloved pit mix, Mary Jane, Miley Cyrus finally opened a new chapter in her life by adopting another furry friend! She decided to adopt a pit bull that she named Angel, in honor of her late dog Mary Jane, who was with the singer for 9 years and lost her life to cancer a couple of months ago. See how she made the emotional announcement below!
On February 21st 2021, Miley Cyrus decided to let her Instagram followers know about the angel who had entered her life. She uploaded a heartfelt post accompanying a slideshow of her dogs, including the newest addition, Angel. Starting off with the lyrics of her song 'I Thought I Lost You', the 28-year-old singer talked about losing her best friend in the caption.
"I hoped in my heart you’d come back to me, my friend. And now I got you... But I thought I lost you.”
Although Mary Jane could never express how she felt in words, for Miley, her eyes were enough. Being with the pooch for almost a decade, words were the last thing the two needed to communicate. "She had outlived the body she was in, but she never said goodbye ..... with her eyes she whispered “See you soon Bestie”."
Despite Angel being a new addition, the 'Wrecking Ball' singer feels a semblance of home with the newly-adopted pup. Not just this, but Miley also feels traces of her former dog in Angel. She writes, "I feel her here with me blessing this new member to my family whose name is “Angel” because she was delivered to me by one... My Mary."
Miley also touches on the fact that Angel was a stray before being adopted, and was forced to sleep without a warm bed, or a soft pillow. Pit bulls are stereotyped to be aggressive even though the reality is the complete opposite! "The stigma and stereotype that surrounds pit bulls tears me in two. This breed is incomparably loving. Just like humans nurture often overrides nature. I want to thank @lisachiarelli for her dedication in fighting for the lives of pit bulls & finding me my perfect fit."
We love seeing you in love Miley! Angel is true to her name, and we hope she lives a happy, fulfilling, and loving life with you as her mommy. The sentimental paragraph ends with how she believes there's a bit of Mary in her new rescue, and we're so glad she found the perfect pup to adopt after her dog's passing.
"She is illuminated by the aura of the late and great Mary Jane. Long live love. It never dies. * ALL THE TEARS YOU SEE IN THIS SLIDE ARE HAPPY ONES *"
