Travis Barker was born again after surviving a terrible plane crash in 2008. Since then, the Blink 182 drummer has dedicated himself to leading a completely different life than he used to. Keep reading to know more about the biggest change of his life!
Before the accident
Travis Barker has always been afraid of flying. In September 2018, the drummer was invited with his family to an event organized by T-Mobile where Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Gavin DeGraw performed. By then, the drummer had stated his divorce process with Shanna Moakler, however, the former couple was trying to maintain a good relationship.
The percussionist was inseparable from his children, but Moakler refused to move to South Carolina because she had a bad feeling. So Barked decided to invite his security guard, Charles "Che" Still, to go with him.
After an incredible concert, Chris Baker, Travis's friend, and Che convinced Travis to take a private plane back home.
“Chris wanted to get home with his baby. I was happy to spend the night, but it was always good to see my children sooner rather than later. "
Barker's book, "Can I Say," recounts in detail how the terrible plane crash happened. Within hours of takeoff, the plane began to fail, crashed into the perimeter fence, and was stopped by a retaining wall across South Carolina Highway 302.
Pilots Sarah Lemmon and Anaheim Hills lost their lives along with Chris Baker and Charles “Che” Still. Travis Barker and Adam Michael Goldstein were seriously injured, but they were the only survivors.
Travis Barker stayed in the hospital for three months and had 16 skin reconstruction surgeries. The drummer started working again, but like Adam Michael, he developed post-traumatic stress. After a year of the accident, 2010, the old group Transplants met to reveal that they were recording new material and the band remains together to this day.
The artist stopped his vegetarian diet and started practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2013. Despite his busy schedule, Travis learned to set aside more time to dedicate to his children, Alabama and Landon Barker, and his stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya.
“My kids are my everything. They were a huge part of my recovery. They are my everything. I don’t even want to think about my life without them”
People magazine revealed that the drummer found refuge in his children. Travis Barker never paused his tours, but in 2018 he left the stages for a while due to health problems.
Travis survived a second accident in July 2018, but luckily he wasn’t injured. Since then, the drummer has collaborated with Wiz Khalifa, Run the Jewels, Wes Borland, and other artists. He also produced the new Machine Gun Kelly album, "Tickets to My Downfall".
The survivor is 45 years old and fortunately in good health. The Blink 182 drummer maintains a completely vegan diet and is more active than ever in the music industry! More than two decades have passed since the first time that we met him, and the producer continues to maintain his fame, as well as a relationship with Kourtney Kardashian. Travis is probably preparing some new project for us, but do you think Barker should retire? Please leave your comments.
