Spreading body positivity and self-confidence is part of Miley Cyrus' personality. Known for being bold and outspoken, the singer never misses a chance to show her love for her gender. Other than being an inspiration for women all over, how has she shown her support for the feminism movement? Scroll below to find out!
Although Miley's songs are known to have incredible symbolism, the music video for her track 'Mother's Daughter' is far from subtle. The track starts off with a red hue and displays the text 'Every woman is a riot' in the first few seconds of the video. What do you think it means?
The gist of the song relays the message of taking ownership of one's body and being comfortable in our own skin. A poker-faced Miley clad in a red skin-tight dress is seen throughout the video. Calling the cinematic explicit wouldn't be wrong as the film is littered with suggestive visuals and uplifting messages- a weird but delightful combination.
Texts like 'You are f***ing beautiful' and 'virginity is a social construct' are displayed every few seconds. The video screams its purpose loud and clear, and my feminist-self is loving it!
Fans of the singer appreciate the incredible piece of art she created in the comments section of its YouTube upload, with one fan terming it as a 'feminist anthem'. User Kaitlyn Capper commented:
'This song helped me take back my power as a rape victim.'
I hope Miley reads this comment, just to realize the power her talent holds. Another user commented saying:
'this song is about women empowerment, & being themselves most importantly that females are not objects or dressing to impress males or any other it’s about freedom & many males don’t get the message of feminism it’s for both equal rights miley is so ahead of her time with this bop message & track!'
We totally agree! The message and power the song exudes is timeless, we hope she keeps highlighting important issues and fighting for her gender. What did you think of this incredible song? Let us know in the comments below!
