The legendary country music star has a secret song locked in a time capsule at Dollywood theme park. Parton, 74 has recorded a mystery track dedicated to her fans to be revealed in the future. Keep reading to discover when it’s going to be opened!
Dolly Parton has left specific instructions to the Dollywood staff to not open the box that contains the mysterious song until the 30th anniversary of the amusement park’s opening.
Revealing the story in her memoirs book, “Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics” Parton explained how she developed her plans with her marketing team:
It would be a magical song that won’t be heard until 30 years from the time Dolly opened the resort. The songwriter might be dead or if she is really lucky she’ll be 99 years old!
According to the “Jolene” singer, she even added a CD player in the capsule in case technology develops into new ways to hear music.
Parton admitted that it was a strange request when her marketing team came with the idea to write a secret song.
“That’s like burying one of my kids, putting it on ice or something, and I won’t be around to see it brought back to life. It’s just burning me up inside that I have to leave it in there.”
Dolly doesn’t want to make the mistake that other artists have made in later life and forget to sort their affairs. The queen of country also revealed that she is considering selling her entire catalog of 3,000 songs.
Let's hope that Dolly can live a long life and the secret song will be a great celebration to mark her 100th birthday!
