"Christmas on the Square" Yaay Review
Dolly Parton plays a loveable singing, sparkling angel in her new Netflix movie musical that’s streaming on Sunday, November 22.
Her character was sent to help a female Scrooge (played by Christine Baranski) to learn about generosity, love and how to capture the festive spirit.
Why you must watch this movie?
Bold, innocent and cheesy without shame, the musical is an honest old-fashioned TV holiday movie full of warmth and energy. It includes all our favorite classic songs and famous actors, like Broadway star Jennifer Lewis and direction and choreography by “Fame” legend Debbie Allen.
Watching it feels much more than a TV movie, it’s like a Broadway musical, with great staging, dancing and singing. It’s a real holiday epic film that will lift your spirits and is perfect to share with your family and sing along!
Dolly shares her secrets
This was a dream come true for the megastar who always wanted to write a Christmas musical.
“I got to act in the movie, got to sing it and got to write all the music,” Parton says, “So I felt very proud of the whole movie. In pandemic times we really need some joy."
