The young artist's real name is Austin Richard Post. The rapper was born on July 4th, 1995 (yes, he is a patriotic citizen!). Syracuse, in New York City, was his hometown since birth until 2004 when the whole family moved to Texas. Malone wasn't raised by his mother Nicole Frazier Lake, but by his father Rich Post and stepmom Jodi.
Playing the guitar was his first love. Austin learned to play the guitar when he was 6 thanks to the popular game 'Guitar Hero'. Austin learned how to play the guitar thank to watching YouTube videos. His father was responsible for introducing the young rapper into different music genres.
In 2010, Austin decided to audition for the American band Crown the Empire. Unfortunately, he was not very lucky because when one of the guitar strings broke in the middle of the audition, he was instantly dismissed.
When he was 15 years, Austin knew he needed a star-name. After working on it really hard, Post decided Malone was just perfect for him! Actually, he worked so, so hard to became a star that when he was at high school his friends voted he was a person 'most likely to become famous'.
Malone enrolled himself at the Tarrant County College but dropped out after three months. He was determined to follow his dream: being a well-known musician. Moving to California with his childhood friend Jason Probst seemed just the perfect option. In 2015, the rapper wrote 'White Iverson'. After two days, he recorded it and uploaded his first hit to SoundCloud. The song had so many streams that in August 2015 Post Malone signed a contract with Republic Records. The rest is history!
