2020 has been a stressful year for all of us due to the pandemic but Dolly Parton proved to be the hero that helped us survive. The country queen is our favorite role model and her positive, inspirational advice is really important, especially in a year as hard as 2020. Read on as we share the life lessons we learned from Miss Parton!
1) Be generous
As the pandemic has continued its rampage across the U.S. shuttering businesses and filling hospitals, Dolly’s iconic theme park Dollywood, has donated local first responders and staff at East Tennessee Children's Hospital much-needed protective equipment.
The country icon not only donated $1 million to help on the coronavirus vaccine research at Vanderbilt Medical Center, she also donated something precious: her time, which is even more valuable than money. During the quarantine she started a weekly video series called “Goodnight with Dolly” reading children’s books to give parents a break and entertain the kids.
2) Inspirational quotes
Dolly revealed that she had two quotes that have been guiding her through this difficult year. The first one is from the Bible in a verse that says: through God all things are possible.
“I always thought that was a good scripture even when I feel weak within myself, I think that through God I can do this. All things are possible," Parton said.
The other quote she found in the 1933 inaugural address of Franklin D. Roosevelt: “There's nothing to fear but fear itself.” For Dolly, that line has inspired her to push past fear and find the strength to be able to help others.
3) Spread Joy
When people were getting worried about the pandemic, Dolly decided to cheer us all up and surprise her fans releasing 100 of her classic songs on streaming platforms.
The music legend also launched her festive album “A Holly Dolly Christmas,” the wonderful Netflix holiday movie “Christmas on The Square,” and her new memoir “Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life In Lyrics." For Dolly the holiday season is a time for sharing and giving love!
