Before signing with Bighit Entertainment in 2010, RM was an underground rapper whose stage name Runch Randa inspired by a Maple Story character. During these days, he produced a song with Block B's Zico, one of Korea's famous rapper.

You heard me right; RM is extremely intelligent with an IQ of 148. At the age of 15, his TOEIC (The Test of English for International Communication) score was 850 out of 990. He also ranked in the top 1% of the nation in high school.

3) He has composed and written more than 100 songs

The rapper began songwriting on a plain sheet notebook in 5th grade and started sharing his songs online on hip-hop community sites in 7th grade. Today, KOMCA attributes over 173 songs to him, making him the youngest Korean artist to ever do so in history - this includes his songs for his first mixtape, 'RM' released in 2015, and 'Mono' released in 2018. 'GLAM', a former girl group of Big hit Entertainment, had RM mentioned on the credits of the songs 'I Like That' and 'XXO'. On his free days, the young 26-year-old enjoys spending time visiting parks and art galleries. Fans started using the word 'Namjooning' after RM shared his adventures on Twitter. The word means 'the act of living as Kim Namjoon.' This can include walking through parks, admiring nature, visiting museums, hanging out with animals and having fun with friends. Extensive reading has also been done by the rapper. He has read books from various genres. Some of them include Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, and 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.

6. He is a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community

He has recommended movies with LGBTQ+ themes such as Moonlight', 'Blue is the warmest colour', 'Love Simon'. Additionally, he talked about how love is not just between men and women and genders at the AMAs, and spoke about having boyfriends or girlfriends in the ETonline interview.
