K-pop is taking over the US by storm. This popularity has allowed Korean artists to collaborate with American artists and interact with their audience. Amongst these artists, Jisoo, Rose, Lisa, and Jennie from Blackpink made their debut at Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show.

Fans of the band aka the ‘Blinks’ were excited to see the girls make an appearance on the show. Jimmy interviewed the girls, asking them about their lives, and music. Everything went well except for when he asked Jisoo what her favorite English word was. Hmm! That seems weird, right?

Blinks took to Twitter to call out the talk show host for asking such a question to the band member who isn’t fluent in the language. They were disappointed by the fact that Asians are always questioned or complimented on how well they know English. Well, to be honest, that is not okay!

However, some of them thanked Jimmy for talking to Jisoo, as she is known to not speak much during the interviews. The fact that he made sure to ask her a question that she could answer came off as him being considerate.

We believe that if the motive was to encourage Jisoo to participate in the conversation, there are a million different things that he could’ve asked her. The line of questioning that involves asking someone about a language that they barely speak should be avoided. Oh, by the way, her response was ‘It’s a pity’.
