BTS and Blackpink, amongst the nominees for 'Best K-Pop' at the VMAs 2021

K-Pop fans over the world are starting to bid on who might be the winners of this year's MTV Video Music Awards. Is it BTS with their English song 'Butter'? Has Selena Gomez influenced Blackpink's luck with 'Ice Cream'? Or will Twice in their first nomination give the surprise? Read more below to find out! 

  • BTS got nominated to the VMAs for the first time in 2019 for Art Direction, Collaboration, Choreography, K-Pop and Group. In 2020, they got nominated for K-pop , Group, Pop video and Choreography.

The candidate to win the category is BTS with their song 'Butter', one of their 3 English songs. Blackpink is nominated for their song 'Ice Cream' featuring Selena Gomez. Monsta X competes with 'Gambler' and finally (G)I-DLE is nominated with 'Dumdi Dumdi', a song that got over 81 million views in less than a week! Finally, Twice got their first nomination for their beautiful song 'Alcohol Free'

Our 2021 prediction for the VMAs 2021

It is inevitable to have to acknowledge that all of this year's nominated artists had great success with their songs. Clearly, the world of K-Pop is gravitating towards an English-speaking world where the songs are meant to have a global impact and to have a greater reach.
