The first James Bond, actor Sean Connery turned 90

The Scottish actor was the first to portray the role of the iconic James Bond, and he just turned 90 on August 25th. Scroll down for more of Connery's impressive roles.

  • He went on to act in seven of the James Bond films.
  • You might also recall Connery in the popular film The Name of the Rose from 1986 based on Umberto Eco's novel of the same name.

The Hollywood star has been off the radar for years, but you'll be surprised to know he has a net worth estimated at a whopping $300 million. That's right, Connery made a lot of money during his career. He has a villa in Greece next to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. They both share the same helicopter platform.

Sean Connery's roles beyond the 007 agent include Alfred Hitchcock's 1964 classic film "Marnie" and the 1987 mob/crime film "The Untouchables" for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award.

His Bond days were far behind but did you know the actor was voted as the most attractive man alive in 1989, and the most attractive man of the Century in 1999 according to People Magazine.

In 2000, he was knighted by Elizabeth II at an investiture ceremony at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh. His previous nominations for knighthood in 1997 and 1998, were apparently vetoed because of his political views.

The actor has millions of fans all over the world. Actor Pierce Brosnan, was a fan of Connery as a little boy. Brosnan also portrayed the iconic Bond and wished the Scottish actor a happy 90th birthday!
