The television producer and media executive spoke about racism in her new show The Oprah Conversation and about "white privilege". Check out the video!
On Oprah's latest show which features former NFL star and race activist Emmanuel Acho the media executive comes together with Acho's own web series “Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man,” and invite non-black viewers to ask questions about racism and white privilege.
One person said that not all white people have power. The person continued saying that “if we’re gonna come together and really attack racism and the inequities that are in this country and are in this world, that it’s important not to group all white people.” To which the talk show host answered that while there are white people who are not as powerful, they still have "their whiteness.” “You still have your whiteness. That’s what the term ‘white privilege’ is. It means that whiteness still gives you an advantage, no matter,” said Oprah.
The billionaire who has a net worth of $2.6 Billion was quickly attacked on Twitter for what people deem a "racist comment".
Despite Oprah's billions it seems "O" Magazine will come to an end after 20 years. The news was announced in July and the reasons given were due to COVID-19 pandemic. Oprah has yet to comment the Twitter posts.
