Not long ago a Vancouver woman got her bag stolen with a very precious teddy bear that had her late mother's voice recorded into it. Several celebrities, including Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds offered a reward for whoever returned the bear to its owner. More information below.
The bear was stolen in the middle of a moving day from a U-Haul truck. Its owner, Mara Soriano received the bear as her mother's last gift before losing the battle against cancer in June 2019. The stuffed animal had her mother's voice recorded in it which said: "I love you, I am proud of you and I will always be with you".
Fortunately news of the stolen item went viral, Reynolds came across it and decided to help. Like him many other Canadian celebrities offered a monetary reward. This week the bear was returned "without a scratch on her" said Mara and the voice box intact. The only thing missing were glasses, a replica of the ones her mother wore. However, the great news is comforting in these times and Mara said "It means just everything to me honestly. There was a part of me that thought I'd never see it again"
"Now that I've got her (the bear), I just feel a little bit more hopeful and a little bit more bright". Mara said now when she looks at her bear she really knows her mom is there and that it's a reminder that she will always come back to her.
Security footage from Soriano's apartment shows how a man takes the bag with valuables from the moving truck. The bear was said to be found at a nearby park. Reynolds also thanked via Twitter everyone who helped find the bear and said: "To the person who took the bear, thanks for keeping it safe. Vancouver is awesome."
