Musician Billy Joel spotted playing a piano on the street

American singer and composer also called "The piano man" for his famous song gave us a street concert after finding a piano that was about to get dumped on the street.  Check out what he's been up to in the video!

  • The songwriter, born in New York in a Jewish family in 1949,  was seen playing a discarded piano on the sidewalk in his hometown Long Island.
  • Despite having a net worth of over $220 millions, he values good instruments!
  • The man appearing in the video is wearing a motorcycle helmet (could be anyone) but a representative of the musician indeed confirmed it's the piano man himself!

Joel is heard saying "Not bad. The action is good" He says the piano just needs tuning. "It's a shame to throw it out".  Joel says it would be good to donate the piano to donating the piano to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. In the video you can hear someone off camera saying there's a nearby thrift store. The video is dated June 26th. There is no word on the piano's fate.

Billy Joel has a very prolific career. He has won 5 Grammy Awards including Album of the Year. In 2001, he received the Johnny Mercer Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was one of the first artists to have a rock and roll tour in the Soviet Union in 1987.

Billy Joel was nicknamed "The piano Man" after his popular song.
