After 11 years, the series "Modern Family" is finally over. They won millions of dollars, 17 Emmy Awards, 1 Golden Globe and many other prizes. Despite all the success, the life story of this actress has been different from the rest of the cast.
Born into a family of entertainers, both of her parents are actors. She was born in Manhattan with kidney problems. Her dad donated one of his and it worked for over 5 years after her body started rejecting the new organ. She had to be in the hospital 3 times a week for dialysis and at the end she had her kidney removed, again. Her brother, Ian Hyland offered his organ and it worked. About those days she remembers "It was so scary, and I was with a lot of pressure: Emmy Awards, my first date with my current husband and I knew in my mind I had the transplant in a couple of days".
Her problems didn't end there: she had endometriosis and a hernia caused by a car accident. She basically had a surgery once every two years on average, and she is not afraid to show her scars "My stomach looks like a New Jersey highway". She even posted a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #ShowYourScars.
Sarah went to the Ellen DeGeneres Show and talked about her psychological issues:
At a certain moment, she was so depressed that she considered suicide. Luckily, talking about her problems out loud got the attention of her family and friends that comforted her and managed to keep her on track. Tough path for a life warrior!
