Miley Cyrus and Australian singer Cody Simpson seemed to be doing great, but they have recently confirmed their separation. The two remain friends and Simpson even congratuled Cyrus on her new single Midnight Sky. Check it out below.
After less than a year of marriage but almost a decade of being together, Cyrus and Hemsworth split and the singer hasn't really talked about it until now. After their divorce the singer got into a very short relationship with actress Kaitlynn Carter and later with Australian singer Cody Simpson.
Miley who has always been open about everything in her life felt like she owed her fans the retelling of her breakup through her art. In a recent interview the star said "I really have always enjoyed dropping singles, rather than the full body of work, because it allows you to talk to your fans in real time. When you write a record, a lot of the time, you're writing your experiences, and then by the time the record comes out, you've evolved past that experience."
Midnight sky is about Cyrus being able to tell her version of the story to help her evolve and move past her breakups. The singer said she felt her breakup with Simpson as well as everything in her life was told through others. That made her question herself. "I was having a hard time knowing what was mine and what wasn't and what I needed to do to evolve" she said.
Cyrus' latest song made it number one on iTunes!
So in the song there are parts that clearly reference her relationship with Hemsworth like where she sings "Lotta years went by with my hands tied up in your ropes (Your ropes)
Forever and ever, no more (No more)"
And other parts where she talks about her time with Kaitlynn Carter sucha as "See my lips on her mouth, everybody's talkin' now, baby."
