This year's Girl Up Leadership Summit was done virtually on July 13th due to COVID-19. Girl Up is a campaign by the United Nations Foundation, focused on engaging teenage girls in gender equality. Michelle Obama talked about violence at home, child marriage and teen pregnancy, and care taking responsibilities within families. She said these situations only make things worse. "When we give girls the chance to learn, we give them the opportunity to fulfill their potential, build healthier families, and contribute to their countries, economies, for generations to come." The Girls Opportunity Alliance Foundation states that as of today more than 98 million teenage girls are not in school. The organization encourages people around the world to take action.
