The youngest of the showbiz family, has signed with HBO Max. Marlon Wayans said he was excited to be in business with the streaming platform owned by Warner Media. Check out the video below to see what the project entitles.
The deal with HBO Max includes scripted and unscripted projects. Wayans will be working with his longtime producing partner Rick Alvarez. Wayans will produce a one-hour stand-up special and a multi-act special which he will host. “I’m excited to be in business with HBO Max,” “Rick and I have had a lot of success in the streaming space and are excited to work with a company that is equally excited to work with us" said Wayans.
The first scripted project is “Book of Marlon” co-written with Alvarez. It will be a half-hour comedy featuring Wayans who plays a fictionalized version of himself attempting to reconcile being a good person and father while being Marlon. Wayans said he looks forward "to helping both brands grow rapidly and internationally. HBO Max is a great place to continue our mission of putting smiles on people’s faces.”
Wayans and his partner Alvarez have been producing together for over twenty years. The pair will co-write a pilot and executive produce via their Ugly Baby company. Wayans other recent projects include Aretha Franklin biopic Respect and Sofia Coppola's On the Rocks for Apple TV+.
