The most shocking story is when the Stranger Things actress recalled Mel Gibson asking her if she was an "oven dodger", clearly a derogatory term and a reference to being burned in ovens in the Holocaust. The same day, he made a homophobic statement regarding a friend of hers and AIDS. She also said, that the actor years later apologized for those comments.

Press manager for Gibson, Alan Nierob, stated that Ryder’s statements were "100% false". Let’s remember that Gibson was away from the screen for 10 years amist homophobic, racist and violence scandals.
