Fashion designer Mary-Kate Olsen's ugly divorce

Former child star married French banker Olivier Sarkozy in 2015 after 3 years of dating. The fashion designer filed for a divorce in April but due to the coronavirus pandemic the New York City courts are not accepting filings. Scroll down to read about the odd couple's separation.  

  • The Full House child star also filed for an emergency order but it was denied in May because a New York State Supreme judge decided "it was not essential.”
  • Olsen, 34 was given a deadline to leave 51-year-old Sarkozy's apartment in the midst of COVID-19 lockdown.
  • She was seen on Friday, July 10th for the first time since the separation with her twin sister Ashley coming out of the office building for their fashion line The Row.

Even though her divorce has been help up because of the pandemic Olsen has a “ironclad prenup,” which means her business and fortune are protected. Sarkozy gave his wife until May 18th to leave their Manhattan apartment. Mary-Kate was concerned about the current health measures around coronavirus and was hoping to get an extension until the 30th. Sarkozy never responded. Luckily the designer is staying with her sister outside the city. The divorce procedure finally began on May 25th. Her legal team was the first to file after courts lifted the eight-week moratorium.
