Peter Green, entered English singer and composer John Mayall's band Bluesbreakers to replace the legendary Eric Clapton. The band would serve as a stepping stone for Fleetwood Mac's band formation later on.
Green's family announced his death this weekend and said he left peacefully in his sleep. One of the guitarist's most memorable tracks is Albatross. The band formed in 1967 and released their debut album in 1968. Green left the band after a 1970s performance due to mental health problems. Green was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia and was hospitalized during the 70s.
Fans and musicians alike have paid their tributes on social media. Green's death comes just a few days after Fleetwood Mac announced they would release a multi-CD box set documenting the band’s early years between 1969 and 1974.
