Comedian Carl Reiner dies at age 98

The US comedy star was father of also famous actor-director Rob Reiner. Reiner started his acting career in the US army during World War II. He won several Emmys for writing and producing the popular Dick Van Dyke Show.

Carl Reiner passed away of natural causes on June 30th, 2020. Reiner and Mel Brooks were such close friends that in the 90s after both men lost their wives they would get together almost every day to watch movies and reminisce on old times. Just a day before his death Reiner posted a photo with Brooks, for his birthday that read: "Happy Birthday to my best friend of 70 years, dinner partner, my fellow Jeopardy watcher and the funniest man alive, Mel Brooks!"

Many stars have paid tribute to the loved Hollywood comedian through social media, including his son Rob Reiner who wrote: "Last night my dad passed away. As I write this my heart is hurting. He was my guiding light".
