Blake Shelton opened up about becoming a part of Stefani's family and about being a father figure to her three children on Friday during an interview with Today. Gwen Stefani has three children with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale,14-year-old Kingston, 11-year-old Zuma and 6-year-old Apollo. Rossdale is an English singer and guitarrist of the rock band Bush.
Shelton talked about Stefani's post about Father's Day in which she thanked him for helping her raise her kids.
"That’s a scary moment for me, because it’s one thing for me to be with the kids all the time and be their buddy," Shelton said. "But then you do have to consider after a while, that they're starting to listen to things that you say, and there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that, which is new to me."
Friday was also the day the couple's latest duet Happy Anywhere was released. Shelton says in the song that he used to be on a reckless streak but now he's "happy anywhere". In other occasions the country music star has spoken about how the former No Doubt singer changed his life. He says he used to be a jerk to his fellow coaches on The Voice but "look how nice I am now" he said. "I don't want to remember what I was like before Gwen".
Gwen Stefani also said Shelton changed her life. "Blake saved my life. Everybody knows that," she said. In 2015 both Shelton and Stefani went through difficult divorces. Stefani ended a 13-year marriage and Shelton ended his with country singer Miranda Lambert after four.
