Assault victim Daisy Coleman commits suicide at age 23

Coleman had been the victim of an assault in 2012 when she was 14. To this day the 23-year-old never got over the traumatic incident that eventually led to her suicide on Tuesday, August 4th. Watch the video below for more on Coleman.

  • It shows the girls' lives after the tragic incident and how it affected them. Pott died from suicide shortly after the incident in 2012.

On August 4th Daisy committed suicide. She struggled with depression all these years. "She never recovered from what those boys did to her and it's just not fair. My baby girl is gone" said her mother Melinda. Daisy was raped at a party in Maryville, Missouri, and her perpetrator was never convicted. After the incident then teenage Coleman was harassed through social media and at school, she even experienced the community's rejection. "I think she had to make it seem like I could live without her. I can't. I wish I could have taken the pain from her! said her mother.

Daisy Coleman dies from suicide after 8 years of her rape

Daisy co-found SafeBAE organization which is dedicated to ending assault of middle and high school students, it also helps survivors cope with their experiences. "She was my best friend and amazing daughter," wrote her mother Melinda on Facebook.
