6 things we know about Rihanna's new album

The Barbadian singer began enticing fans with news of a new album in 2018, two years later there is still no release date, nor name for the singer's ninth studio album. Check out was she has said about it so far.

  •  Rihanna moved to the US in 2005. Her first two albums were influenced by Caribbean music.
  • In 2007 she released her third album with elements of dance-pop and immediately jumped to stardom.
  • The release of her ninth album would mark the first after her double-platinum album in 2016.

1. The singer's 9th album has affectionally been titled #R9 by fans, but it's actually still unnamed. In 2018, the star said the release would come the following year.

2. In 2019, fans believed the singer revealed the name of her ninth album in an Instagram post. She wrote, "this year has been quite an overwhelming one, and I’m working on that ish called Balance. brb." Fans went crazy over the capitalized word 'Balance' and even commented on her post about that being the name of her album. 2019 went by and no news on Rihanna's album.

3. In 2020, the singer launched her Cream Blush product from her Fenty Beauty line and it was reported that Rihanna was further delaying the release of ninth studio album for the launch.

4. In February 2020, Rihanna reassured her fans that new music is on the way, but no tracks have been confirmed yet.

5. It's going to be a reggae inspired album. "It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks."

6. Also in there were rumors about what other artists would be collaborating with Rihanna. Reggae musician Shaggy said he was approached to appear on the album, but turned it down, because he felt he was asked to audition to be a part of the project. Rumor has it that Cardi B will be featured!

Fans are starting to get desperate and impatient, after all the singer has been teasing the release since 2018. "I’m not just gonna put it out just because people are waiting. It’s taken this long, I’m gonna make it worth it" she said.
