5 Interesting facts about Award-winning singer Adele

English pop singer Adele shocked everyone with her incredible weight loss earlier this year. She was planning on releasing a new album this September, but it has been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While we wait on a new release date, check out these interesting facts!

  • Her debut album, titled 19, was released in 2008 and it is certified eight times platinum in the UK, and three times platinum in the US. The album contains her first song, "Hometown Glory", written when she was 16.
  • Adele's album "21" is one of the best-selling albums of all time in the UK. As far as sales, it ranks just below The Beatles' iconic "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

1. She wrote her hit song "Hometown Glory" in just 10 minutes. The song is about her life in West Norwood, London in London. She reportedly wrote it as a protest after her mom tried to persuade her to leave the city to attend university. 

2. She studied at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, as did the late singer Amy Winehouse for a brief period.

3. She has a Beyoncé inspired alter ego called Sasha Carter which she created just before meeting the American singer in 2011. She uses it to motivate herself. It's a mix of Beyoncé's third studio album released in 2008 titled "Sasha Fierce" and the famed singer June Carter.

4. Her music was noticed by an independent record label in the UK after the singer posted her original songs on the defunct social media site Myspace in 2006. 

5. In 2018, for her 30th birthday, she had a "Titanic" theamed party where she dressed up as Kate Winslet's character, Rose.
