During a speech at a charity, the Prince said he was sad to leave his royal duties but "there was no other option". But, how is their life now that they have stepped back and moved to Los Angeles? More on the couple in the video.
The Duke of Sussex had addressed his wife's criticism by saying "I also know you've come to know me well over all these years to trust that the woman I chose as my wife upholds the same values as I do". He said he did not take the decision lightly. A lot of thought, many talks and years of challenges and resumes that "there was no other option". Harry made it clear that they're not walking away.
Their hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth and Harry's military associations. However, after the couple's decision to move to Los Angeles their exit plan from the royal family came to an end on March 31st and with it the end of public funding. And without the funding, their hopes to continue serving aren't possible.
"I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known, to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life." The Sussexes will keep their private patronages and associations, but formally cannot represent The Queen.
The couple moves to L.A with their one-year-old son, Archie, however, the pandemic has taken a toll on Harry. Things might not be going as smoothly as they planned.
“Harry has told friends he is really missing the Army as well as his military appointments" a royal insider told newspaper the Telegraph. He can't believe his life has been "turned upside down.” Who's to blame? Is it really Meghan's fault, was it the Crown? Stay tuned to see what else will happen with the controversial couple?
