  • Salma Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. She is well known as the first Latin actress to have broke barriers and established a successful career in the United States.
  • Her breakthrough was in “Desperado” in 1995 directed by Robert Rodriguez and alongside Spanish star Antonio Banderas. Her role on the movie catapulted her into stardom.
  • Salma was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2007 for her role as Sofia Reyes in the TV series “Ugly Betty.” The actress was the show's executive producer.

Salma Hayek celebrated Mexico's Independence Day with a striking hair transformation. She also shared a passionate message to her 16 million fans on Instagram.

In the celebration Salma Hayek is showing off her colorful new look. We can apreciate the roots of her hair which she dyed green especially for the occasion, and she is wearing a bold red lipstick.  "Long Live Mexico!" she screamed at the camera, while wearing a Mexican T-shirt and matching red & green earrings, everything coordinated with the colors of her native country's flag.
