Though it is unclear what sparked Malik's Twitter reaction days ahead of Grammy's award show, many were quick to presume he  was upset over the lack of Grammy recognition for his latest album, “Nobody Is Listening.”

“F-- the Grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands, there’s no nomination considerations”

His new release debuted on the U.S. album chart earlier this year at No. 44. Yet, it was not eligible for consideration because it was released five months after the eligibility period.

Another reason why Zayn was so angry might be that he has released three solo albums outside of his work with One Direction and has been nominated once alongside Taylor Swift for their duet,  "I Don't Wanna Live Forever."

Hours after his initial Twitter post, the singer followed up with a second tweet.

Malik is among many musicians who have criticized the Recording Academy and its selection process, including The Weekend, Drake and Halsey.
