Air India Expressed confirmed that there were 190 people on board the plane that came from Dubai. Upon landing the plane skidded off the runway and broke in two.
"Around 100 ambulance services were deployed to take the injured passengers to hospitals." A senior official for Malappuram district confirmed. He also said that the injured have been admitted to hospitals in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts.
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, said that 149 people had been admitted to different hospitals, three were critically injured and 23 have already been discharged.
Puri also announced relief measures for passengers and their families. He detailed the monetary aid they will be receiving in a tweet.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), will conduct further investigation on the incident communicated Puri.
As far as coronavirus testing Shailaja Teacher, the state's Minister for Health said all passengers would be tested, however, at the time of the accident rescue workers prioritized saving lives and not everyone was able to follow Covid-19 protocols, the minister said.
"However, now we have to be vigilant again. We urge all who have been to the crash site to take necessary measures to keep yourself and others safe."
