Tuesday's event in the Rose Garden was meant for President Trump to announce new actions on China. Instead, Trump blamed the Chinese for the spread of coronavirus and attacked his election rival Joe Biden saying he would destroy the country. Listen to the complete speech below.
Trump holds China responsible for concealing coronavirus. He says they "Could have stopped it," "They should have stopped it" he reaffirms. The current president said he will put and end to Hong Kong's preferential treatment. "Hong Kong will now be treated the same as mainland China," he said. "No special privileges, no special economic treatment and no export of sensitive technologies."
Donald Trump also praised himself for the measures taken against China, including the decision to confront untrustworthy Chinese technology and convince many countries not to use Huawei "I did this myself for the most part". If they want to do business with the US they can't use that technology. He blames Obama and Biden for allowing China to steal US information. "I did what has to be done" said Trump.
