The most important Twitter accounts in the world have been hacked in a crypto scam. From companies like Uber, Apple and Tesla to their CEO’s personal accounts including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and other celebrities like Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West and former United States President, Barack Obama. Check out the following video to see what happened.
Former Vice president Joe Biden and entrepreneurs like Michael Bloomberg and Warren Buffet also had their accounts hacked.
The tweets said things like "I feel generous" or "I will double any bitcoin payment sent to my address in the next hour".
Several memes regarding Twitter security invaded the Internet, while other users talked about the intelligence of the scammers: instead of doing the scam with Bitcoins, from which they managed to get approximately 100.000 dollars, they could have invested in Twitter stock after making the value drop.
Authorities managed to realize the attack was done to an internal panel of the company, similarly of what happened in 2017 when a Twitter employee deleted Donald Trump’s account on his last day working for the tech giant.
After the attack, Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, has apologized to users.
"It has been a tough day for us on Twitter, we feel terribly bad about this. We will share as much as we can when we have a more complete understanding of what exactly has happened."
