Girl group Mamamoo's fandom got them trending on Twitter on January 12th under the hashtag "Mamamoo paved the gay." Read on to find out all about this thread and more.
This January 12th, Twitter was flooded with posts under the hashtag "Mamamoo paved the gay".
What does this mean? It means that this group of girls that debuted in 2014 has been practically the only one of its kind to show support for the LGBTQ community.
In South Korea this is quite a taboo topic. It is not something that idols promote but quite the opposite.
This is why it has always drawn attention that Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein and Hwasa have made public demonstrations of support to the community.
Without going any further, the music video for the song Wheein's cong "Goodbye" shows a couple of girls and the artist actually revealed that for her, love is always love, no matter the form.
The Moos love this aspect of their favorite idols and have decided to make it a trend on social media.
Something that caught my attention was to see that BTS fans have also joined with the hashtag "BTS paved the way", meaning that the Bangtan Boys paved the way for other K-pop groups to become famous outside of Asia.
Both fandoms, the ARMY and the Moos are sharing photos of their groups and their ideas together and that is very positive.
We generally see fandoms not only supporting their favorite groups but sometimes also attacking others.
In this case they have both joined a fun thread.
Indeed, it is true Mamamoo has really paved the way for the LGBTQ community, and we applaud them for that!
