Florida registers 15,000 new cases of Covid-19 in one day

Since the slow reopening, Florida has been the country’s epidemic center. Now, the Sunshine State broke the record of new infections in one day with 15.299 cases.  The pandemic has been causing vast economic consequences, with unemployment figures comparable to the great depression of 1929.   • Nurses have been called from all over the country to help in Miami's largest public hospital, the Jackson Memorial.
  • Dr Kenneth Ratzan, the chief of infectious diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center, said that if the current surge isn’t halted deaths will increase.
  • This is the evident that the virus won't "just go away" like United States President Donald Trump stated.

The previous record was held by the city of New York with over 12.000 cases in one day. Just in Florida there has been over 269.000 cases and the restaurants are starting to close again. Experts think there is a direct relation between the opening of Walt Disney thematic park and the rise of coronavirus infections. 

Ron DeSantis has imposed a $50 fine for not wearing a mask but it is not enough.

Now is the time to rethink the health strategies to fight against this pandemic and the government needs to act fast. Medical staff is also hoping that with the summer temperatures, cases will decline and improve the conditions in the hospitals.
