Dolly Parton has rewritten and updated her classic song ‘9 to 5’ to celebrate the entrepreneurial lifestyle for a new Super Bowl advert. The new version of the track, now called ‘5 to 9’, will air at the Super Bowl event this weekend. Scroll down as we reveal all the surprises for the big day!
Dolly Parton remakes “9 to 5” as "5 to 9" filmed by La La Land’s director Damien Chazelle for a Super Bowl Advert Spot. The commercial promotes Squarespace, a website building and e-commerce service for entrepreneurial developments.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker directed a Broadway-style commercial, which features an energetic choreography by Tony winner Justin Peck. Dolly does not appear in the ad but she did record a full-length version of the new version of the song that you can listen to on Spotify.
Parton is planning to debut as a beauty entrepreneur with her new fragrance, Scent From Above launching her ad campaign at the Super Bowl.
“A lot of people through the years have wanted to change the lyrics to fit certain things they’re doing. I really thought that was a wonderful thing, especially for Squarespace. ‘5 to 9’ seemed to be a perfect thing when they pitched it.”
In another recent interview, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Parton revealed that she wrote “Coat of Many Colors” on a dry-cleaning tag. Dolly likes to write her lyrics on whatever she has to hand!
