40% of LGBTQ youth in the United States considered suicide

The nonprofit organization Trevor Project revealed that suicide rates grown among youngsters in the United States, specially in this minority. Check out this alarming story.  

  • Transgender and queer youngsters are more likely to suicide than hetero.
  • Suicide is the second cause of death between people from 10 to 25 years old.

The survey tries to raise awareness in this topic, specially in minorities. They also reported that 68% of the people that participated in the survey suffer from anxiety and almost 55% from depression.

The organization urged the mental health providers to take care of this problem concerning the American youth.
Psychiatrist Jack Turban from Stanford University said "our society has a long way to go to create a more nurturing environment".

With the pandemic, the normal sources of support are shortened, and the depression could be more extreme. Telemedicine is the new way of treating this problem, and in this case, something as simple as a videocall, could make a difference.
